How long have you lived in Houston, and what line of work are you in?

15 years off and on and i am a student (unemployed at the moment)

What are you looking for in an atheist meetup or social?

a lively discussion with people who share my views that we were not created or guided by an intelligent force.

Other than atheism, are there any hobbies or movements that you identify with?

anarchism, democratic socialism, writing, reading, film/art/music appreciation, cultural festivals when i can attend those, and just good old fashioned small get together's with conversation this can include camping trips. i want to get into urban gardening and habitats for humanity.

Do you consider your non-belief a private matter? Would you feel comfortable telling someone "I am an atheist"?

no. and yes people must be aware that there is still hope even though we alone. in order to progress we must drop fallacies like religion. save for daoism which doesn't have a god but just teaches the mechanisms of nature and ways to live in harmony with uncontrollable nature. humans are the only ones who reject the natural decentralized power of the universe and everything in it.
